The healing effects of nature

From ancient discovers on nature and its sounds and colours have been known as having healing or therapeutic effects. One of the recent studies has shown that we can reduce pain in invasive medical procedures like bone marrow aspiration for cancer patients simply by using soothing images and sounds of nature.

Scientists have also studied the medicinal effects of the forest air and found that by only two hours spent in the forest our immune system is improved even up to 50%. This is due to phytoncides, natural antibiotics released to air by trees and other plants as their own protection from harmful insects and microorganisms. According to the studies, breathing of the fresh forest air full of phytoncides is a great prevention against malignant illnesses and has medicinal effects on patients suffering from high blood pressure, depression, insomnia etc. Read more about research of the healing effects of forests and about benefits of hiking in nature.
